Drum lessons in your own living room.
Hi, I'm Peter. I've been playing drums for about ten years and teaching for the last four. I come to your house for lessons, so nobody has to fight traffic or sit in a waiting room. I teach all over Newport Beach, Irvine, Costa Mesa, and the cities around them.
You can also email me at peterafif.drums@gmail.com. And if you want to see how I play before you decide, I'm on Instagram.
30, 45, or 60 minutes.
Every lesson is just you and me, working on music you actually like. A lot of my students had never touched a drumstick before their first lesson, so don't stress if you're brand new. No kit at home yet? Ask me before you buy anything, I'll save you some money.
This is what most people book. There's time to warm up, clean up technique, and still spend most of the lesson actually playing songs. Before I leave you'll know exactly what to practice for the week.
Book 60 minutesThe right call for younger kids who can't do a full hour yet, or anyone squeezing drums into a packed week.
Book 45 minutesA short one. Good if you're trying lessons out for the first time, or you just want help with one specific thing.
Book 30 minutesYour first lesson is 50% off, so it's an easy way to see if we click. After that, pricing depends on the lesson length and how far I'm driving. Text or call me at (714) 512-0070 or send an email and I'll give you a straight answer.
Here's how it goes.

I come to you
I show up at your place with everything I need to teach. You don't drive anywhere.
You play
We get behind the kit and play. After each lesson you'll know exactly what to work on before the next one.
"I love this instrument. Watching a student nail a groove they couldn't play last week never gets old."
I've been playing drums for over ten years and teaching for the last four. I do lessons at students' houses because honestly, it just works better. People relax at home, and relaxed students learn faster.
My students range from little kids sitting at a kit for the first time to adults who waited decades to finally learn. It doesn't matter where you're starting from. We'll start there.
We'll get into technique, timing, and reading music. But most of the lesson is spent on the songs that made you want to play drums in the first place. That part matters more than people think.
House calls across Orange County.
Don't see your city? Message me anyway. If you're somewhere in or around Orange County, I can probably get to you.
Want to hear me play?
Makes sense, you're hiring a drum teacher. I post clips on all three of these.
A few common questions.
My kid has never played before. Is that a problem?
Not at all, that's how most of my students start. No experience needed, no musical background, nothing. We start from the very beginning and build up. Honestly the first lesson is usually more fun than people expect.
How young can kids start?
I teach kids from about 5 and up. With the little ones, the first goal is just having fun and getting comfortable behind the kit. The real technique comes once they're hooked.
Do we need a drum kit at home?
Not to start. But you'll want something to practice on before long. Don't buy anything yet, just ask me first. I'll help you find something good without spending more than you need to. A practice pad and a pair of sticks is a cheap, totally fine way to begin.
We have an electronic kit. Does that work?
Yep, acoustic or electronic both work great for lessons. Electronic kits are actually perfect if you're in an apartment or practicing at night, since you can throw on headphones.
Do you teach adults too?
All the time. A lot of my students are adults who always wanted to learn and finally went for it. It is genuinely never too late to start.
What if we need to cancel or move a lesson?
Life happens, I get it. Just give me a heads up as early as you can and we'll find another time. No stress about it.
How does paying work?
We'll sort that out when we set up your first lesson. It's quick and easy, nothing to handle ahead of time.
How long until I'm actually playing a song?
Sooner than you'd think. Most students are playing along to a real song within the first few lessons. Keeping it fun is kind of the whole point.
Questions? Just ask.
Texting me is the fastest way to get an answer. Ask about pricing, scheduling, what kit to buy, whether your kid is old enough, whatever you're wondering about. Asking doesn't commit you to anything.
